Dolby B NR Dolby C logo Full Logic Direct Drive

This Nakamichi TD-800 is a stereo car cassette/tuner with Dolby B and C noise reduction, it was first sold by Nakamichi in 1984 with a recommended retail price of USD $900 and discontinued 2 years later in 1986.

The main features of the Nakamichi TD-800 are: 1 head, dual capstan transport.

Tape loading/unloading is operated motorized and the cassette needs to be placed with the side to be played facing forward in the cassette well.

Full-logic transport controls used on the TD-800 let it respond to the slightest finger contact for fast and effortless transport function selection.

Manual playback azimuth correction provides controls to manually adjust the azimuth of the TD-800s playback head to the azimuth the tape was recorded with so playback on the {0} is possible with the best sound quality.

Dolby C-type used in the TD-800 provides 20 dB of noise reduction above about 1,000 Hz, fully doubling the amount given by B-type.
