Discrete Head Cassette Deck

The LX-5 features Nakamichi's Discrete 3 head Technology. With mechanically independent heads, each can be designed and contoured for its specific purpose, and each can be aligned fo proper magnetic azimuth, a feature not possible with a "sandwich" 3 head system.

The LX-5's laminated Crystalloy play head has been specially tailored to eliminate "contour effect" and provide smooth bass response. Its 0.6 micron gap extends response to 20 kHz. The record head utilizes laminated Crystalloy and a 3.5 micron gap to ensure a sharp recording zone when using high bias metal tape. The erase head has a ferrite core and dual gap sendust poletips for maximum efficiency.
