Nakamichi LA-100

Line Amplifier

Nakamichi LA-100

Despite industry attempts to standardize input and output sensitivities, the unfortunate fact remains that the mixing of brands often results in mismatched input/output levels.

Preamplifier "A" often lacks the gain to drive power amplifier "B" to clipping. Tape deck line inputs, too, often lack sensitivity resulting in insufficient record levels, even with the controls at maximum. The LA-100 can be inserted anywhere to correct line level gain mismatch problems. Two switches operate in combination to provide 0 d13, +6 1 +12 1 and +18 11 gain. In the 0dB position, the Line Amplifier acts as a buffer amplifier for isolation purposes or as a transformer less impedance matching device (example: the LA 100's high input impedance makes it ideal for matching a tube preamplifier to a solid state power amplifier with relatively low input impedance). The LA-100 features ruler flat frequency response and low noise and distortion. A muting circuit eliminates turn on "thumps".
