Within the 700ZXL's elegant form lies performance that rivals that of the Nakamichi 1000ZXL. The 700ZXL offers the same Discrete Three Head system, Asymmetrical, Diffused Resonance, Dual Capstan Transport, and basically the same A.B.L.E. and RAMM systems as the 1000ZXL. The A.B.L.E. auto calibration processor achieves precise record head azimuth alignment, bias current, record/playback level and record equalization for optimum reproduction performance with any type of cassette tape. And the bias, level, and equalization data computed by the A.B.L.E. system can be stored in internal memory for later recall when using the same type of tape as was used for the initial adjustment. The main difference between the A.B.L.E. systems offered in the 1000ZXL and 700ZXL is that the 700ZXL requires manual setting of the basic tape category used: i.e. normal (EX), chrome (SX) or metal (ZX). In any of these tape categories, the A.B.L.E. system makes it possible to achieve a very impressive 18 to 24,000 Hz ±3 dB (20 to 20,000 Hz +1.5 dB) frequency response.
