Specifications and control convenience equal in every way to the 682ZX. Even the same outstanding Discrete Three Head performance, but without real time monitoring capability.

The 681ZX's azimuth and level auto calibration processor and Discrete Three Head system are no different from those of the 682ZX. But while the 682ZX offers real time monitoring capability with double Dolby noise reduction, the 681ZX does not. Playback level however, is displayed on the level meters during bias adjustment operations, ensuring easy, precise calibration. Dolby C NR is included for a 20 dB reduction in noise level, as well as Dolby B and any selection on a tape can be quickly located with a RAMM program selection system.
