Maintaining the superb 3 head system quality of the 582Z, as well as the same specifications and features, the 581Z is ideal for those who do not feel the need for real time monitoring.

Thanks to the Nakamichi Discrete Three Head system, the Asymmetrical, Diffused Resonance, Dual Capstan Transport, and Dolby C NR, the 581Z maintains the same fine performance levels as the 582Z. The difference is that the 581Z uses the same Dolby NR processors for both record and playback, so real time monitoring is not possible. When recording the built in test oscillator tone, however, playback level is displayed on the LED peak level meters, making precise bias and level calibration fast and simple. Also provided are Dolby B NR, IC logic controls, and 50 dB range LED meters.
