3 head performance from a 2 head deck, thanks to Nakamichi's superb narrow gap Sendust R/P head. The 480Z's overall high quality ensures that you realize the full benefits of Dolby C noise reduction.

The 480Z is an excellent example of the fine audio performance 2 head decks are capable of providing. Nakamichi's development of a special narrow gap Sendust record/playback head has made 20 20,000 Hz frequency response possible in this configuration. The transport, an allimportant part of any deck, is the unique Nakamichi Asymmetrical, Diffused Resonance, Dual Capstan Transport which virtually eliminates wow and flutter. A Dolby C noise reduction system provides up to 20 dB reduction in noise level (2 kHz  8 kHz). Separate tape and EQ selectors, and a fine bias adjustment control are also incorporated.
